Facilities and Capabilities

VEEM operates from a 14,700 square metre purpose-built manufacturing facility in Canning Vale, Western Australia, integrating Australia’s largest non-ferrous foundry with advanced CNC machining, dynamic balancing, assembly and testing capabilities. The facility houses 12 furnaces with a casting capacity of up to 14.3 tonnes and supports the production of over 250 ferrous and non-ferrous alloys through in-house alloying and metallurgical expertise. VEEM’s machining division features 14 multi-axis CNC machines, including 8-axis systems capable of handling components up to 8.5 metres in length and 25 tonnes in weight, supported by CAD/CAM and CMM verification technology.

The company’s NATA-accredited laboratories conduct chemical, mechanical and non-destructive testing to ensure absolute quality control, while its dynamic balancing facility accommodates components ranging from 100 grams to 28 tonnes. Combining traditional craftsmanship with automation, robotics and continuous R&D investment, VEEM’s integrated operations enable the design and manufacture of high-precision products for the marine, defence, aerospace and industrial markets.

Foundry

VEEM operates the largest non-ferrous foundry facilities in Australia, with 12 furnaces and a 14.3-tonne capacity. VEEM undertakes alloying in-house, with expertise spanning across over 250 alloys, ensuring exceptional quality and performance for every casting. We recycle all unused materials from machining, testing and non conformance to minimise waste at every opportunity.

Pattern Making

VEEM’s pattern making capabilities span across

  • traditional wooden pattern making
  • 3D printing, and
  • patternless moulding

with facilities and equipment that is world-class. Projects will often involve a mix across all 3 types.

Centrifugal Casting

VEEM operates a number of centrifugal casting centers which enable us to manufacture long dies of up to 2m, and shorter lengths in up to 1250mm diameter. These centers also facilitate our patented duo-metal casting technology which enables VEEM to manufacture what we call, Forever Pipe, for applications requiring superior abrasion resistance, impact protection, or corrosion resistance.

Machine Shop

VEEM’s machine shop has been operating since 1968, providing a range of manual machining, fitting and refurbishment services certified to the highest standards. VEEM’s machining services are supported by state-of-the-art inspection technology, including advanced CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and CAD/CAM systems, as well as the GOM ATOS 5 3D scanner with full photogrammetry.

CNC Machine Shop

VEEM operates a fleet of 14 multi-axis CNC machines, including 5-axis and beyond. We can achieve tolerances down to microns and deliver high-precision components for industries requiring exacting standards. Our maximum machining size capacity is 8.5 meters x 15 meters x 2.5 meters, making VEEM one of the few facilities in Australia capable of handling such large and complex projects

Balancing

VEEM’s Dynamic Balancing services are at the forefront of precision engineering, delivering unmatched accuracy to certified NATA standards for components across a wide range of industries. VEEM is the largest Balancing Shop in Australia, with the capability to balance items from as small as 100 grams to as large as 28 tonnes across seven machines.

Testing

VEEM undertakes a wide range of testing in-house to ensure our manufacturing is meeting strict standards that we can deliver. This includes our metallurgy lab, metrology lab, chemical testing and mechanical testing workshops. We also utilise comprehensive scanning technology on-site including the GOM ATOS 5 3D scanner with full photogrammetry.

Electroless Nickel Plating

VEEM houses an Electroless Nickel Plating (ENP) facility, also known as Kanigen Plating that performs medium phosphorus ENP to deliver total corrosion protection and enhanced surface hardness. The process is compatible with a wide range of materials and improves surface hardness, reduces friction, enhances durability, and creates a brighter appearance.

Welding and Finishing

VEEM has a highly specialised welding facility that provides

  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Hot Wire (GTAW Wire)
  • Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW)

in a wide variety of alloys including bespoke and exotic alloys.
