The newly launched Tor Boreas, built by the UK-based Tor Group in Turkey, is now operational — equipped with a VEEM VG140 Gyrostabilizer to enhance its dynamic offshore capabilities. Designed by Macduff Ship Design, the 27-metre vessel supports operations across offshore wind, civil marine construction, and subsea support.

Fitted with a diesel-electric drivetrain, twin azimuth drives, and full Dynamic Positioning, Tor Boreas is optimised for high-precision tasks such as harbour towing, boulder grappling, and dive support. The vessel’s deck is outfitted with a 13-tonne offshore crane, hydraulic A-frame, 25-tonne aft towing winch, and a 500mm stern roller — all supported by VEEM’s gyrostabilization technology to maximise uptime and maintain vessel stability in variable sea states.

The integration of VEEM’s VG140 unit ensures improved vessel control and crew comfort, critical for offshore energy and wind industry operators. VEEM is proud to support Tor Group’s investment in multi-mission vessel technology that delivers safety, stability, and operational efficiency.
