=VEEM Extreme propulsion was selected as one of 47 innovations featured on the 2026 Innovation Route at the Cannes Yachting Festival, held from 8 to 13 September, and shortlisted in the sustainability category of the Innovation Route Awards. Launched in 2024, the Innovation Route recognises the technologies making recreational boating more efficient, connected and responsible. This year’s selection was drawn from 120 applications and assessed by a jury of six industry experts on boldness, relevance and potential to transform the sector.
The VEEM Extreme entry was presented in Cannes by TBS Marine, VEEM’s agent for the region, and centres on the proprietary high-tensile alloy behind the VEEM Extreme range. In Lloyd’s Register-witnessed sea trials, a VEEM Extreme propeller and rudder delivered an 18.1% efficiency improvement over an industry-standard system, with an 11.9% reduction in fuel burn. As part of the selection, VEEM Chief Technology Officer Tony Elms was interviewed by the festival’s team on how the alloy maximises power and efficiency, and on VEEM’s role as an OEM supplier to yacht builders.
