At the Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) Conference in Perth, ASC announced that VEEM Ltd along with a select number of other Australian businesses are progressing through the Defence Industry Vendor Qualification (DIVQ) Program to support the build of the United States Navy’s nuclear-powered Virginia Class submarines. This qualification is the next step for VEEM along the journey to supply critical components in the US defence supply chain.
The Defence Industry Vendor Qualification (DIVQ) Program, ensures the Company is eligible to compete for contracts and supply components for the United States Navy’s nuclear-powered Virginia Class submarines. Established by the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) in partnership with the US Government, the DIVQ Program is delivered through ASC and helps Australian industry lift its systems, processes and technical capability to meet US submarine requirements. The milestone was announced at the Indian Ocean Defence & Security Conference (IODS) in Perth, highlighting Western Australia’s growing role in AUKUS. Through DIVQ, ASC is working alongside US submarine builders General Dynamics Electric Boat and HII Newport News Shipbuilding to assess and certify Australian companies capable of supplying components such as mechanical assemblies, valves, pipe fittings, machined parts, electrical systems, and castings and forgings.
VEEM Chief Executive Officer Trevor Raman said: “VEEM is pleased to have passed the rigorous requirements to enter the US defence supply chain and is now eligible to compete for contracts to supply components for the nuclear-powered Virginia Class fleet.
